How I travel with just just a carry-on. Part 2.

I take a lot of mini vacations, multiple times a month. And because I like to save money and I'm only gone for a few days at a time, I've mastered just the carry-on when I travel anywhere!

Three days worth of clothes are in that bag! Bag is from Anchored East.

I haven't paid for luggage for a really long time. I'd rather spend my $25 on souvenirs or food! When I travel alone I usually have one carry-on which is a big, spacious backpack and a tote. I put the backpack up in the overhead compartment and the tote under the seat in front of me.

Perfect for 3-4 days of travel.

The backpacks that I have vary but all of them are very roomy with lots of pockets. My absolute favorite and most popular one is my Anchored East bag. It's actually a diaper bag backpack but you would never know! It works wonders for all my vacations. I can fit a pair of shoes, a few shirts, a couple pants and even my make-up bag. Usually 2-3 days worth of clothes with very little outfit repeating! Another popular one I love is Petunia Pickle Bottom! They also have some cute Disney designs.

I always start off with my shoes at the bottom.

This specific bag has 5 pockets inside and 3 pockets outside.

I have a make-up bag and a toiletry bag. The make-up bag is smaller and I usually put that in my tote, depending on space in the backpack.

I use all the pockets for little things like my portable straightener, socks and underwear, belts and jewelry.

I try to bring a lot of travel sized things, including my straighter, This one is $30 from Urban Outfitters.

I use the tote for things I need accessible since this is the bag that I have with me at my seat. I throw in my chargers, iPad, extra shoes, snacks, etc... (Yes, shoes are in there!)

They both are very easy to carry and manage when rushing through the airport (Because I'm always running late haha)! I do sometimes bring a roller carry-on, But only for longer trips or when I know I might need the extra space.

And obviously these kinds of carry-ons fit a lot more  things comfortably so I don't feel the need to pack everything so tight and there's usually extra space. I prefer these for winter travels since winter clothing is thicker and takes up more room in luggage.

Fitting everything in:

I always put my shoes at the bottom then I build up from there. Then I fold or roll everything up as small as I can and stuff it in. What also really helps is outfit repeating. Try to wear your pants again or your shoes. That helps save on space for other things...like souvenirs!

Jungle print bag is from VS PINK a few years ago,

What's allowed: You're allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces. You can also bring your own snacks! Which is a lifesaver for me. I will bring those little travel sized crackers or trail mix from the $1 store. I even pack oranges and carrots, they just have to be in a Ziploc baggie

I think the highlight of bringing a carry-on is you don't have to wait for your luggage at baggage claim or pay! For most airlines at least. Some airlines such as Frontier, Spirit and Allegiant allow carry-ons but charge a fee so double check before you book because if you're going to pay you might as well check you're bag and have that extra luggage space!

Happy travels!
